The semi-country sea-change life is great until the water from your rainwater tank turns first purple (kind of exotic) but then black (less so). Even then you can justify it by just saying “it’s natural” and imagining that you’re detoxifying your skin with the blessed natural water and charcoal infusions of the earth mother, Gaia. Even though your face feels sort of weird. Then one day you decide to clean your gutters and realise with horror that you’ve been washing in mud, possum shit and decomposed millipedes who probably secrete some sort of brain dampening poison or something. You want to just stay in a hotel.

Anyway a bunch of shows coming up, as usual. I’m off to Japan and Europe again in July. Should be a hoot. May never come back. YOLO.

My tour starts this week, it’s terrifying! You should see the budget spreadsheet. It has a lot of columns. In truth I didn’t do much of it, my faithful assistant Julie took care of it. She’s a wiz with formulae – a formulaic wiz, so to speak. Anyway based on my projections I should be living under the sea by December. I can’t wait for my new life, under the sea. Things are simpler there. For one thing, it’s getting warmer, which is clearly beneficial, as any nonce can work out.

Anyway I have added a new show in PERTH on Sunday, at the Beaufort St Songwriter’s Club. So tell your Perth mates! I’ve also solidified some line ups.. in Fremantle I have Daniel Davis of Big Orange opening. In Brisbane I have the stunning Sabrina Lawrie & The Hunting Party, Ofa Fanaika and Deena doing the support honours. Sydney will see Lisa Caruso & Sachet join my band and David’s band. I’ve got me old Qld mate Luke Peacock‘s brand new band Minor Premiers playing with me in Melbourne! Anyway full listings and ticket links below. Under the sea!

The excellent design is by Kate Alexander, with additional head by Steve Lynagh. It would be accurate to say that my outsourcing of t-shirts was something of a PR failure, but we got a result. Two results, in fact. Here’s a close up of the designs; I actually doctored Steve’s to make the VR goggles bigger, added more hair and removed an expression line, but he doesn’t read my newsletters so I reckon I’ll be okay.

Anyway they’ll be $25, white only cause I left it too late. I’ll also have caps and stubbie coolers. Eftpos facilities available. I’ll set up an online store real soon as well.

Here’s me, Flora, Sean, Brendan Gregg & a bass player I like to call “The Captain” having a good old ‘jam session’ at Civil & Naval in Lyttelton. Very little actual jam was produced.

Unfortunately the show at Refreshment Room tonight has been cancelled. The venue did nothing to promote the show and then decided to cancel. Pretty pissed off. Anyway. Tough shit I guess. WE’LL SEE YOU IN HAMILTON.
